A partir do
refletividade permane{\c{c}}a inferior at{\'e} atingir o limite
numa compara{\c{c}}{\~a}o qualitativa.
ABSTRACT: This work
presents a simple cell classification methodology, but innovative
called the 3D Expansion Method. From the maximum reflectivity core
of the storm cell, the method begins to classify each cluster as
part of the cell body in the three directions, provided that the
reflectivity value remain above the 20 dBZ threshould, defining
outer edge of the cell. If the reflectivity gradient changes to
positive during the search, it means that it found the border
between two cells, so the search will be interrupted. The center
of mass is reflectivity-weighted and an firt guess direction of
searching for the center of mass to subsequent time is given by
Uniform Wind Technique or Volume Velocity Processing. By
determining the life cycle of cells, a database with these samples
is created and will be used as a basis for the nowcasting with
life cycle. In comparison, this methodology was superior to the
Cell Tracking algorithm. Its predictability reached 67\% in a
qualitative comparison. The Expansion Method also allowed for a
better understanding of the processes of merging and splitting,
where one cell evolves and remains at the expense of the other by
the competition of water vapor and advection of heat.",
